    Production Machinist

    The position requirements for the Machinist positions are as follows:
    Education: Two year degree in Machine Tool Technology, or a high school diploma/general education degree (GED) with equivalent experience is required.
    Experience:Minimum of two years’ experience as a Machinist preferred.
    Specific Technical Knowledge:

    • Experience producing tight tolerance components in a production environment.
    • Experienced in manual and CNC type machining processes using a wide variety of machine tools.
    • Experienced in manual and CNC type machine set-ups, monitoring, change-outs, etc.
    • Working knowledge of a wide variety of inspection devices to inspect components produced.
    • Written and verbal communication skills, ability to work cooperatively with other team members.

    Reports To: Value Stream Leader
    Location: Elmira, NY
    Responsibilities:
    This position is responsible for the set up and operation of both conventional and CNC machining equipment to produce components efficiently and accurately. The machinist will load / unload parts on machines to support maximum spindle utilization time, perform in-process inspection of machined parts to verify conformance to customer requirements, monitor parts as they are completed on the machine, and detect malfunctions in machine operations, such as worn or damaged cutting tools. The position runs production lots, communicates with co-workers regarding productions runs, and maintains a safe, organized and clean work environment. Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing work area practices including 5-S, Visual Controls, Standard Work, work center metrics, and continuous improvement processes and supports team members in these processes.     Electronic Technician

    The requirements for the Electronic Technician position are as follows:
    Education: High-school graduate plus two year technical college with a specialization electrical/electronic education or equivalent experience. Knowledge of troubleshooting/repair, alignment/adjusting methods and techniques, simulators and other test apparatus
    Experience:Two to three years in performing a wide range of testing, assembly and associated duties following standard procedures. Experience with troubleshooting CNC controls. Familiarity with mechanical disassembly and reassembly of sliding, rotating and/or power driven equipment. Candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to interpret assembly drawings, use mathematics as well as mechanical principles to solve machine tool assembly tasks. Good personal computer and communication skills are necessary.

    • Perform a wide range of electrical/electronic operations on all machine products. Assist in the introduction of new products to final assembly. Work with engineering personnel on updates or prototypes; assist in establishing procedures for all line operators

    CNC Machinist/Programmer

    The requirements for the CNC Machinist/Programmer position are as follows:
    Education: Two year degree in Machine Tool Technology, or a high school diploma/general education degree (GED) with equivalent experience is required. Formal training in CNC programming is a plus
    Experience:Minimum of three to five years’ experience as a Machinist preferred plus additional training in CNC programming
    Specific Technical Knowledge:

    • Experience producing tight tolerance components in a production environment
    • Experienced in manual and CNC type machining processes using a wide variety of machine tools
    • Three to five years of experience with CAD/CAM (AutoCAD, Inventor, MasterCam, SmartCAM or equivalent software programs)
    • Experienced in manual and CNC type machine set-ups, monitoring, change-overs, etc.

    • Good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with other team members

    Location: Elmira, NY
    Responsibilities:

    This position is responsible for the CNC programming, set up and operation of CNC machining equipment to produce components efficiently and accurately. The machinist/programmer spend approximately 30% of his/her time developing CNC programs and approximately 70% of his/her machining parts, also, perform in-process inspection of machined parts to verify conformance to customer requirements, monitor parts as they are completed on the machine, and detect malfunctions in machine operations, such as worn or damaged cutting tools. The position runs relatively small production lots, communicates with co-workers regarding productions runs, and maintains a safe, organized and clean work environment.

    Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing work area practices including 5-S, Visual Controls, Standard Work, work center metrics, and continuous improvement processes and supports team members in these processes.     Financial Analyst

    The requirements for the Financial Analyst position are as follows:
    Education: BS in Accounting or Finance required.  CPA or CMA preferred.
    Experience: 
    Minimum 3 to 5 years of related experience, 1 to 2 years Cost Accounting experience preferred.

     


    Specific Technical Knowledge:

     

    • Experience in an automated ERP environment required; experience with JD Edwards a plus.
    • Strong MS Office experience including advanced Excel required.

    Location: Elgin, IL
    Responsibilities:   Key member of entity operating management and local accoutning expert.  Interfaces closely with centralized accoutning services in Elmira, NY to budget, forecast, close books, understand variances, and control operating activities of the business.

     

    • Month-end close responsibilities include recording journal entry adjustments for sales, cost of sales, freight, intercompany in transit inventory, purchase price and scrap variances, and inventory reconciliation book to perpetual differences.Additionally, calculate and analyze monthly manufacturing overhead rates.Prepare and record various non-routine journal entries as required.Prepare account reconciliations.Prepare monthly reporting for the operations including, but not limited to margin analysis by project, productivity and efficiency of direct labor.
    • Review and assess overall Financial Statements for Elgin operation to ensure timely and accurate results. Report results to Americas Controller to understand variances compared to plan and forecast.
    • Work with Sales and Operations to insure proper margin and cost calculations for customer quotes/estimates.
    • Review performance variances against quoted costs.
    • Review monthly cycle count adjustments, maintain excess and obsolete inventory database and perform analysis.
    • Assist with monthly and quarterly forecasting along with the annual budget process.
    • Responsible for ensuring compliance with the company’s internal control system over inventory and WIP.
    • Responsible for expanded and efficient use of the company’s ERP system – extracting value from the investment.
    • Partner with the operation’s leadership team to drive success.
    • Liaise with the company’s internal and external auditors as required.

    Turning Applications Engineer

    The requirements for the Turning Applications Engineer position are as follows:
    Education: Associates Degree in Engineering or Technical Certification Program preferred.
    Experience: 
    Minimum 7 -10 years of CNC machining focused on turning applications.  Milling and Grinding experience a plus.  Experience interacting with customers in some capacity preferred.

     


    Specific Technical Knowledge:

     

    • Working knowledge of Fanuc controls
    • Fluent in CAD/CAM CNC Programming
    • Strong verbal and written communication required
    • Ability to represent Hardinge in a professional manner when interacting with customers is required

    Reports To: Manager Direct Sales - Americas Machine Division
    Location: Elgin, IL
    Responsibilities:   The applications engineer is responsible for tasks in support of the selling process of our CNC machines.  Other responsibilities include:

     

    • Reviewing customer requirements to determine proper machine and process selection.
    • Conduct training classes occurring in-house or at offsite facilities as needed.
    • Perform machine demonstrations, time studies, feasibility studies and sample parts in support of sales.
    • Tradeshow and Open House application support as needed.
    • Assist in prototype machine PLC and option testing of mechanical and control software functions.
    • Technical phone support for customers, salespersons and distributors.
    • Attend training seminars or courses as needed to stay on top of technology.
    • Some travel is required.

    Account Services Clerk - A/R

     

    The Account Services Clerk - A/R is responsible for interfacing with customers through verbal and written correspondence, protecting the company’s investment in accounts receivable, and the accurate execution of accounting functions in the Hardinge Inc. ERP system, currently JD Edwards.  The requirements for this position that reports to the Elmira Controller are as follows:
    Education: High school diploma required; Associates degree in a related field preferred. 
    Experience:  Three to Five years in an Account / Finance setting preferred.  The position requires excellent communication/customer service skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products is expected, and a working knowledge of an ERP system is preferred; experience with JD Edwards is a plus. 

     

    Reports To: Elmira Controller
    Location: Elmira, NY
    Responsibilities:

    • Receive or initiate calls and e-mails working directly with customers.
    • Receive and / or download customer invoices and ensure the correct coding of invoices and payments for the ERP system.
    • Perform collection activities on delinquent accounts and take actions to resolve past due amounts, including account discrepancies, following up as needed.Organize and document collection activities and communications.
    • Reconcile customers’ accounts; process refunds, offset credit memos, make adjustments, etc.
    • Receive and properly code and enter incoming payments.
    • Enter data accurately into the ERP system.
    • Special reporting as may be required.
    • Support other accounting projects as directed.

CNC Machine Repair Technician

EDUCATION:

Associates Degree in Electrical or Electrical/Mechanical Technology preferred, other related degrees or equivalent experience will be considered. 

 

EXPERIENCE:

2 to 3 years of experience in the installation, troubleshooting and repair of computerized numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools.  Machine tool equipment may include: lathes, machining centers, grinding machines or similar metal cutting machine tools.

 

SPECIFIC TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE:

Thorough knowledge of all mechanical, drive, power, electronics, electrical, hydraulic, Fanuc computer numerical controls and other machine systems necessary to diagnose and correct malfunctions on manufacturing equipment.

 

Good communication skills necessary between the repair technician and inside customers.

 

REPORTS TO:  Maintenance Supervisor

 

LOCATION:  Elmira, NY

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Installation, troubleshooting and repair of mechanical, electronic, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems of machine tool equipment located in the manufacturing facility.

 

Determine the extent of problem, repair or replace defective parts, hydraulic, air and electronic units.  Reassemble electronic and mechanical components.

 

Repair motors, transformers, wiring panels, gears, hydraulic, air and electrical units.

Workholding Customer Service Representative

 

The Customer Service Representative is responsible for working with customers, distributors, and Hardinge field personnel to enter quotes & orders and complete customer service activities following company guidelines to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.  Interaction can take place over multiple channels including in person, over the phone, e-mail or live chat.  The requirements for this position that reports to the Workholding Sales Manager are as follows:

EDUCATION:

Associate’s Degree in a related field preferred.    

 

EXPERIENCE:

Three to five years of related experience in a call center customer service environment preferred.  Excellent customer service skills and computer skills required.  Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word preferred.  Working knowledge of JD Edwards is a plus.  Manufacturing background or knowledge a plus. 

REPORTS TO:  Workholding Sales Manager

LOCATION:  Elmira, NY

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform and/or support customer service duties including but not limited to handling all aspects of customer questions and requests, processing purchase orders and handling customer complaints. 
  • Process quotes and perform follow-up activities to generate sales. 
  • Monitor production timelines and expedite deliveries per customer requests. 
  • Develop excellent knowledge of products to help our customers select the right Workholding product for their needs.

Machine Shop Quality Inspector

The position requirements for the Machine Shop Quality Inspector position are as follows:

EDUCATION:

Two year degree in Machine Tool Technology, or a high school diploma/general education degree (GED) with equivalent experience is required.

 

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of 2 years related experience working in a manufacturing team with machinists and engineers preferred. Experience in metrology required.  Reading and interpreting single part, as well as, assembly drawings experience required.  Knowledge of and experience operating/ programming of CMM preferred.  Basic knowledge in metallurgy and instrument calibration helpful.

The successful candidate will work well as a team player with minimal supervision; maintain a high degree of organization, reporting capabilities, effective communication and be capable of interacting with internal and external customers.

 

SPECIFIC TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE:

  • Must have fundamental mechanical and mathematical inspection knowledge.
  • Must be familiar with ISO specifications and standards and have robust knowledge of GD&T, and blueprint interpretation.                         

LOCATION:  Elmira, NY

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follow standardized procedures and instructions for in-process and final inspections across a wide variety of customized parts and assemblies with very close tolerances and specifications.
  • Determine method of inspection and set up requirements on first article parts. Prepare and maintain all required Quality Assurance forms.
  • Program CMM for automated part verification and be familiar with the use of all inspection hand gauging including but not limited to; micrometers, thread gauges, dial indicators, vernier calipers, height gauges, internal and external thread gauges, ID/OD mics, bore gauges, etc.
  • Coordinate the inspection planning of each job, documenting and plotting inspection data on a computer.
  • Identify and define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw and present valid conclusions. Responsible for interpreting an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Industrial Maintenance Repair

The position requirements for the Industrial Maintenance Repair position are as follows:

EDUCATION:

High School Diploma or GED.

 

EXPERIENCE:

 4+ years of manufacturing experience; strong hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and industrial skills with some PLC experience and HVAC.

 

SPECIFIC TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE:

  • Must be able to operate a forklift.
  • Requires knowledge of basic hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret building/machine diagrams and manuals.
  • Knowledge of hoists and hoist installation is a plus.

The position requirements for the Quality Gage Inspector position are as follows:

EDUCATION:

Two year degree in Machine Tool Technology, or a high school diploma/general education degree (GED) with equivalent experience in Gage calibration or parts inspection is required.

 

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of 2 years related experience working in a manufacturing team with machinists and engineers preferred. Experience in using a variety of metrology tools required.  Reading and interpreting single part, as well as, assembly drawings experience required. Knowledge of and experience operating/ programming of CMM preferred.

The successful candidate needs to be detailed oriented and will work well as a team player with minimal supervision; maintain a high degree of organization, reporting capabilities, effective communication and capable of interacting with internal and external customers or suppliers.

  • Must have fundamental mechanical and mathematical inspection knowledge.

Cylindrical CNC Grinding Machinist

EDUCATION:

High School Diploma or GED. Associates Degree in Automated Manufacturing (or equivalent), preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a CNC Machinist required. Cylindrical grinding experience preferred. 

 

SPECIFIC TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE:

  • Strong understanding of “G&M Code” programming.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing work area practices including 5-S, Visual Controls, Standard Work, work center metrics, and continuous improvement processes.

 

LOCATION:  Elmira, NY

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Set-up, operate, and perform a wide range of external, internal, and face grinding operations on our CNC Kellenberger grinding machines.
  • Have an understanding of working with precision equipment and components.
  • Read blueprints and interpret written and verbal work instructions.
  • Accurately complete all related documentation and shop floor data collection.
  • Perform set-ups to include downloading programs, calibrating wheels and dressing devices, and running the program to produce quality products.
  • Troubleshoot and correct set-up problems, including editing CNC programs.
  • Inspect all work performed using company provided precision gauging, such as micrometers, dial calipers, air gages, ring gages, dial bore gages, snap gages, accuracy plugs, dial indicators, and V-blocks.
  • Maintain tight tolerances associated with the grinding of precision parts.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on the machines.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and clean work environment
  • Communicate with, and support, team members to achieve company objectives.
  • Perform training functions as required.
  • Adhere to all aspects of the Quality Management System.
