Hardinge force-limiting step chuck takes the headache out of thin-wall turning. Maintain inside and outside concentricity of thin-wall parts in a fail-safe process while eliminating the nuisance of manually tweaking the draw bar force.
A die spring acts as the primary closing mechanism. The closer will bottom out before the die spring reaches its solid height. The actuation is force independent from the machine draw bar. You can operate at normal pressure without loss of closing cycle time associated with low pressure setting.
Force-Limiting Step Chuck - Available in 5C, 16C and 20C styles - Up to 6" (152.4mm) workpiece diameter - Increased cycle time - Will not crush part - Maintains OD and ID concentricity - Hardened and ground - Ordered to size per application
